Gone But Not Forgotten Honorees

Jesse R. Dawson- He is the first Black Policeman for the City of Dallas. Currently there is a State Jail named after him. He along with Mr. Lee G. Brotherton, walked the streets of Dallas during Civil Rights movement.

Mattie Nash- She is the Unofficial Mayor of West Dallas and City Activist. She is the reason why the New West Dallas Projects are erected.

Dr. George W Pryor- Founding Pastor of New Birth Missionary Church. His legacy was “If I Can Help Somebody, then my living will not be in vein”.

Bishop J Neaul Haynes- The deceased Texas prelate of the Church of God In Christ and former Pastor of the Saintsville Church of God In Christ. Haynes Chapel in South Dallas is named f or his family.

Dr. A E Campbell- Former Pastor of Salem Intuitional Baptist Church. He was known as a walking dictionary and organized one of the first Mega Churches in the state of Ohio.

Living Legends Honorees

Norma Adams Wade- Written several articles on the AAHPL from the early 90’s to the present. Also, she is one of the first African American featured writers of the Dallas Morning News celebrating over 25 years.

Rita Morgan- Is the Co-Founder of the Rita’s Contour. She introduced high fashion to the African American community. She introduced colored/dyed live mink and fox that has been worn by several celebrities.

Debra Blair Abron- She is a faithful service to getting the word out to the African American community. She has done several articles on the AAHPL in our continual fight to preserve our African American History. We also pay tribute to her Father the late Dr. William “Bill” Blair, the Founder of the Elite News paper.

Linda Pratt Thomas- Owner & Founder of the Draperies by Linda who is celebrating over 25 years of service. Her drapes hang in several noted celebrities’ homes and several well known churches.

Diane Ragsdale- Known as the Mayor of South Dallas. She is considered Ms. South Dallas. She served on the Dallas City Counsel. She recently placed in the James Madison High School “Trojans” Wall of Fame.
