The Image Awards, A Dream To Hollywood Part 2

By: Dona Mitchell

The 50th Anniversary of the NAACP Image Awards, held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California was exceptional. It was hosted by the entertaining Anthony Anderson, star of the hit comedy “Blackish."

Congresswoman Maxine Waters received the Chairman's Award with pride and had an opportunity to speak well to include her haters who threatened to kill her and her family.

Maxine Waters is a powerful Congresswoman. Her boldness will be displayed across American.  'I got the gavel, and I not afraid to use it,' stated Maxine Waters at the 50th NAACP Image Award.

JAY- Z received the President’s Award and dedicated it to all of the women in his life.  Beyoncé won Entertainer of the Year. They were both sitting on the front row looking marvelous. Some of the other winners were: Outstanding Comedy Series-black-ish; Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series-Anthony Anderson, black-ish; Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series-Tracee Ellis Ross, black-ish, Outstanding Drama Series-Power, Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series-Taraji P. Henderson, Empire and Outstanding Actress in a Television  Movie, Limited Series or Dramatic Special-Regina King just to name a few.  WOW!

Being at the NAACP Image Award is always a great opportunity to meet and greet stars but the 50th was a mark in history for years to come. It was not only in California, but Hollywood. To some of us, that was a dream come true. I walked down 'Hollywood Walk of Fame' were celebrities received stars on the sidewalk. I had the pleasure of staying in the hosting luxury, 5 star,  LOEWS Hollywood Hotel. From the red carpet to the awards ceremony, it was beautiful. Seeing the stars walk down the red carpet was just like TV but it was real and I was apart of it. When stars acknowledge who you are and take a picture with you, that 's  greatness.

I was not only there to meet and greet stars, I was celebrating my birthday at the luxury, Beverly Hills Hotel. I enjoyed my favorite Chicken Paillard with sautéed spinach and mash potatoes.  I was accompanied by my husband James Mitchell. A special thanks to my children James JeJuan, Johnique Sharda and Joslyn Shamar for making this birthday the best ever. I also want to thank my friends, Mr.  Bob and Linda Lydia for their support. Glory to God.
