Dallas, Texas – Dallas Black Dance Theatre (DBDT) invites the community to take a free peek Behind The Scenes of its five performing companies November 19-21, 2018 at the DBDT studios at 2700 Ann Williams Way, Dallas, Texas. Presented by Nordstrom, this collection of intimate noontime performances provides an opportunity for audiences to meet the dancers, get a glimpse of their rehearsal process, and preview works that are being developed for future performances.

Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 19-20, 2018, Noon, DBDT and DBDT: Encore!

Internationally renowned DBDT and DBDT: Encore! will perform excerpts of works from the 42nd season. DBDT will showcase an excerpt from Odetta by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Rehearsal Director and Guest Artist Matthew Rushing. The dance salutes the “Queen of Folk Music” Odetta Holmes and will be featured in the Cultural Awareness series February 15-17, 2019, in the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre.

DBDT: Encore! will perform an excerpt from the fast-paced and fiery Phoenix by Zach Law Ingram, founder of the 6 o’Clock Dance Theatre. DBDT: Encore! presents the work during the 31st Annual International Conference and Festival of Blacks in Dance in Dayton, Ohio.

Wednesday, November 21, 2018, Noon, Dallas Black Dance Academy Performing Ensembles

On Wednesday the three Dallas Black Dance Academy youth ensembles display their talents.The Allegro Performing Ensemble, DBDT’s premier academy ensemble, will present works by Academy Director Katricia Eaglin and DBDT: Encore! Artistic/Booking Assistant Richard A. Freeman, Jr. Allegro will also share a live rehearsal of the dance She Stands by veteran DBDT dancer De’Anthony Vaughan. The Senior Performing Ensemble will perform Dynamic Phase by Vaughan and Round 1…FIGHT by DBDT dancer Zion Pradier. The Junior Performing Ensemble will showcase Illuminate by DBDT dancer Jasmine White-Killins and Wait A Minute by Imani English.

While the performance is free, seating is limited. Guests must RSVP to ticketsales@dbdt.com to reserve seats.
