Lady Panthers overrun Arlington Baptist
PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M women’s basketball team defeated Arlington Baptist College 105-31, Monday night in the PVAMU Rec. Center.
The team scored their second win of the season in a blow-out offensive show.
The Lady Panthers came out a little hesitant in the first quarter, but eventually going on several runs as they claimed 27 of the 35 points scored throughout the opening minutes. They ended on a 10-0 run and led 27-8 after a layup in the final seconds by senior center Artavia Ford.
PVAMU kept their momentum going in the second quarter as they opened with a layup made by senior forward La’Neique Nealey. The Lady Panthers ended on an 11-0 run as they led 49-16 going into the half.
The team continued dominating on the offensive side of the floor in the third quarter. They completed a 9-0 run on a jump shot from senior guard Jordyn Penniman at the 2:21 mark. The team ended the quarter with a 78-25 lead over the Patriots.
The fourth quarter was nothing different, as PVAMU continued to lengthen their lead. The Lady Panthers gathered their largest lead of the game at 74 points as they ended the game 105-31.
Junior guard Dominique Newman lead the team with 20 points, five rebounds, two blocks and one assist, while Penniman sported a season high of 18 points, six assists and two rebounds. Senior guard Shala Dobbins followed behind with 11 points, two rebounds and one assist.
