The Family Act was reintroduced today and Mi Familia Vota is calling on you to support it! Here’s why: The Family Act provides up to 12 weeks of paid leave for serious personal or family needs, it would help strengthen workforce participation while providing workers and families the stability they need.
Latinos have much to gain from this legislation! Although the Latino community has the highest labor force participation rate of any racial or ethnic group in the U.S. and are the fastest growing segment of the workforce, less than 40% of Latinos have access to paid sick days and only 25% have access to paid parental leave.
The Family Act is needed to protect workers’ rights and guarantee fair and equal treatment in the workforce. We need a program that reaches all of us, from parents of newborns to family members of our deployed military men and women. With the Act, all working people will have access to time away from work – for family or medical reasons – without risking their jobs or economic security.
Act now and tell your elected officials to support the FAMILY Act to ensure that workers can take care of themselves and loved ones. #USAtuVoz and go to bit.ly/FamilyActNow to call, email or tweet at your representatives with one click!
